Village Roadshow Studios is entering one of the most dynamic periods in its history.

Situated on the Gold Coast, Village Roadshow Studios has long been a cornerstone of Queensland’s screen industry. The studio complex features nine sound stages along with production offices, workshops and backlot area. In 2025, the studio welcomed leading Australian and international production companies, including Amazon MGM Studios, Legendary Pictures, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, marking a remarkable year of cinematic achievement and setting new benchmarks in production and storytelling.

Among the headline projects was the live-action adaptation of Voltron, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, transforming the studio into a futuristic battleground. The Monsterverse also returned to the studio with filming for the second season of the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and the next instalment in the franchise, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. These major productions were joined by the action thriller Subversion, starring Chris Hemsworth, which made extensive use of the studio’s recently upgraded water tank facility.

Netflix’s reality competition series The Golden Ticket was another highlight in 2025 and showcased the studio’s versatility to deliver large-scale streaming content as well as feature films.

Collectively, these productions generated significant benefits for Queensland, supporting well over 2,000 local cast and crew jobs and delivering an estimated economic impact of more than AU$370 million. The scale of activity highlights the studio’s growing role as a hub for global film and streaming productions, while also showcasing the depth of Queensland’s screen industry workforce and infrastructure.

Another recent success associated with Village Roadshow Studios is The Bluff, which recently surged to number one globally on Amazon Prime Video. The film has helped showcase Queensland craftsmanship to international audiences, from set construction to costume design. Its success further strengthens the Gold Coast’s reputation as a global production powerhouse.
