Jimpa is the latest feature film from acclaimed Australian director Sophie Hyde (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande), starring Olivia Colman, John Lithgow and Aud Mason-Hyde. This deeply personal, multi-generational story, follows a mother and her non-binary teenager as they travel to Amsterdam to reconnect with the teenager’s estranged grandfather, opening up conversations around identity, family and belonging across cultures and generations.

The production spanned South Australia, Amsterdam and Helsinki, presenting a technically and logistically complex project with multiple crews, locations and delivery requirements.
KOJO set up and supported the post-production workflows across all shooting locations, designing a robust and consistent pipeline from set through picture post, online finishing and final delivery. This globally connected approach ensured creative teams could collaborate seamlessly across the world while maintaining technical integrity throughout the process.
Post-production was completed in KOJO’s Adelaide studio. Director Sophie Hyde and editor Bryan Mason worked closely to shape a thoughtful, emotionally resonant cut, balancing intimacy and scale across timelines and locations. The film’s visual language was then refined through close collaboration with the Closer Productions team, cinematographer Matthew Chuang and KOJO colourist Marty Pepper, whose work honours the naturalism of the performances while crafting a subtle, expressive look that supports the film’s emotional depth.

The successful delivery of Jimpa is a testament to the outstanding work of the Closer team, alongside producers Liam Heyen & Cyna Strachan of Mad One Films and the entire KOJO crew.
Jimpa premiered at the Opening Night Gala at the Adelaide Film Festival, was released in US cinemas on 6 February, and opens in Australian cinemas on 19 February.
